The founders of Soltrac come from long professional careers in the environmental movement (see our credentials). We are passionate about saving energy, but also practical. By offering solar heating installations at a truly affordable price, we hope to see many more people take up this kind of heating.

But how can we offer less expensive systems that work just as well if not better than more costly ones? First, because we are a small and independent company, committed to keeping our overheads and marketing to a minimum. Second, we believe that if the price is reasonable, a lot of householders will buy such systems. And third, and most significant of all, we've done our homework, and know how and where to obtain the very best prices. Our solar panels are made in China, at a fraction of the cost of those made in Europe. They are produced by a vast domestic company and we firmly believe that they rival the quality and efficiency of any European counterparts, including even those sold at much higher prices.

We also researched the two types of solar panels available: those that heat hot water, and those that generate electricity (called photovoltaic panels).   We are not yet convinced that photovoltaic panels are cost effective where mains electricity is available, so we specialize in installing solar water-heating systems.

In summer, this fraction rises close to 100%, meaning that you'll hardly need the boiler or immersion heater at all. This gives you a bigger saving than you might expect, because oil and gas boilers run less efficiently when they heat just the water than when they heat the house as well. Even in the depths of winter, on sunny days our solar panels make a substantial contribution. 2.
