		Evacuated tubes
		The tubes are constructed like a thermos flask: the inner surface of the tube is black and the outer transparent, with a vacuum between them. This means the inner surface gets very hot in the sun – up to 250°C! Advantages The most economical option; Slightly better performance than the plates especially in winter; 5 year guarantee on all components. Tubes can be installed on flat roofs using a frame. This is ideal where the roof is hidden from the ground e.g. by a parapet.



		Flat plates
		A more traditional design, flat plates can either be installed on top of the roof tiles (‘on-roof’) or can be fixed straight onto the rafters or battens (‘in-roof’) reducing the height of the panel above the roof plane. Advantages Clean lines on the roof; Expected 35 year life; Recommended option for new build. 2 panels are suitable for most homes but more can be added if need be. The panels can be arranged in different patterns, e.g. 2 alongside in landscape format where the roof is narrow. Please ask for details. Where a roof is being built or rebuilt, the panels can be fixed straight onto the rafters or battens reducing the height of the panel above the roof plane. Prices available on request.

Our prices include absolutely everything: installation, solar panels, replacement hot water tank (with lower solar coil, upper boiler coil and new immersion heater), electronic control system and visual display, plus a 5-year guarantee. All prices are inclusive of VAT. During your free site survey our team will identify any additional costs and include these in the quote we give you.

All systems are individually designed and so the above prices are guides to indicate the approximate cost. But we are confident they will compare well with quotations from other installers.

Prices for mains-pressure hot water systems and/or combi boilers can be given on request. Typically these are higher, because of the higher cost of the mains-pressure water cylinders and thermal stores used.

We can easily configure larger systems if your needs are greater.

Can I get a grant?

Yes, as long as you use an installer who is registered with the Low Carbon Buildings Programme. This means that the solar products, systems and installation company have had to meet strict criteria and specifications. Soltrac is an approved installer and so the Government will provide a grant of £400 towards your solar water heating if you use Soltrac.
