Schüco Kompakt solar water heating panels. Installation pictured is two panels on-roof, ideal for 2-4 people. Installed by Soltrac in Wiltshire. The panels are fixed to two strong horizontal rails, which themselves are held in place by six roof anchors; these roof anchors are fastened through the battens onto the rafters, and protrude under individual tiles, holding the rail in place. We can also install a slightly smaller panel, the Standard Line panel, which is 1952 x 1052 mm. Two of these make a good option where one large Premium panel is a bit too small for the hot water demand, and two Kompakt panels a bit too much. However these "Standard" panels are rarely used in the UK so only come with the aluminium-coloured light surrounds, in contrast to the black surrounds shown above. We find that English people usually prefer the dark surrounds, to make the panels less conspicuous, whereas the aluminium-coloured ones are usually used in Germany, where the panels are made – a comment on natural characteristics perhaps!
