Produce your own clean electricity
Photovoltaic (or PV) panels generate electricity from the energy of the sun. A PV system at your home will:
-
Produce clean and sustainable energy and so reduce your carbon emissions;
-
Fulfil much of your own demand, saving on electricity bills;
-
Export any surplus electricity you don't use to the National Grid.
Create an income and save every year with your PV installation.
In April 2010, the Government brought in Feed In Tariffs (FIT). This important initiative now makes a PV system a very good investment, returning on average 9-12% of your capital spend each year.
You benefit financially in three ways:
-
You are a paid a tax-free tariff on each unit of electricity your produce, whether or not you use it yourself;
-
Your electricity supplier pays you an additional amount for each unit of power you export to the National Grid.
-
Since you are supplying much of your own demand, you buy much less electricity from the National Grid. This will help insulate you from the projected huge rises in domestic electricity costs;
Important Note – You can only take advantage of the Feed In Tariff and receive the payments if your PV system is fitted by a fully accredited installer under the Government's Microgeneration Certification Scheme.
How does PV work and is it suitable for me?
As designers and installers of PV systems we can assess your requirements from a Free Site Visit. We can also give you an initial assessment after a consultation over the telephone.
Please see our page of frequently asked questions on PV. If you have any additional questions please contact us.
The UK has been slow to embrace renewable energy. So far we generate just 1.3% of our energy from renewables, one of the lower percentages in Europe. But there are now generous tariffs to help. Be part of this new movement to generate your own power, benefitting yourself and the country!
